About

Miles Platting Savers are part of a wider network across Manchester called Community Savers. This is a network made up of place-based and women-led community groups which bring communities together to share ideas for reducing poverty and inequalities in their local area, and across neighbourhoods, towns and cities.

By saving small amounts together at the same time during weekly savings meetings, savings groups build trust, financial resilience and connections with other members.

Miles Platting Savers have grown out of a long history of resident-led action in the neighbourhood including: campaigns to save the local shops amidst regeneration, the setting up of Miles Platting Community Grocer (a local food membership club), and Friday Fun at Parish Church of the Apostles.

Miles Platting Savers have networked together different community groups through MPCAN to create the shared vision for the neighbourhood.

Savings collections happen during a Friday coffee morning. This is a warm, friendly space where savers can come together to chat, have a brew and some crumpets and save as little or as much as they want every week. Whether you want to save up for a holiday or this year’s Christmas presents, come along and start saving!

The group is welcome to everyone from all ages and backgrounds.
