St Cuthbert's Action Group

Our St Cuthbert’s Action Group is working together with the Parochial Church Council to plan a neighbourhood-wide consultation about exciting plans to redevelop the St Cuthberts site for community benefit. A Project Management Team is working with us to take the development forward throughout 2024.

This will be a genuinely community-led development involving full and detailed community consultation and is being taken forward by St Cuthberts Parochial Church Council working in partnership with MPCAN.

We have begun visiting community hubs and social centres in other parts of Manchester to get inspired – most recently we visited Moston Miners and The Carlton Club in Whalley Range who are keen to support us as we start out on our own journey of development community-led facilities for our local area.

Climate Action Group

Our Climate Action Group have created a map of sites around the neighbourhood that could be developed as climate-friendly green spaces and we are working our way around them together, consulting people who live nearby and developing plans for bee, bird and butterfly  friendly planting, habitat creation, seating and play facilities.

We are now closely working with Ash Farrah, Climate Change Officer at Manchester City Council, Creative Climate Resilience at the University of Manchester, and Jigsaw to develop a climate action plan for the neighbourhood.
Some of our current projects include citizen science ecology surveys involving local residents, families, and young people working together with wildlife experts from Lancashire Wildlife Trust to identify animal and plant species. The sessions include botany, birdsongs, butterflies and bats and loads of other creature.

After the surveys, we will be working with partners to develop a range of sites to support these wildlife habitats.
