About

St George’s Youth and Community Centre holds two wellbeing sessions each week which both include a healthy lunch. Each session is about building a positive community for all where everyone is welcome.

Monday Movers

Monday Movers is a one-hour chair yoga session aimed at over 55s from Collyhurst and surrounding areas. The sessions are inclusive and adapted to meet the needs and abilities of all users, led by a qualified yoga teacher.

There are many benefits from chair yoga including: improving flexibility, mental clarity, reducing stress, anxiety aids, muscle building and helping with pain management.

Tuesday Wellness Walkers

Wellness Walkers are a group of local people who walk together for approximately an hour or more. Sessions again are adapted to meet the needs and paces of all. Members share memories of the local area and occassionally take trips out to more rural areas and parks.

Benefits of regular walking include: improving lung health, physical, social and mental wellbeing, increasing energy levels, improving muscle endurance and strengthening the immune system.

Free healthy lunch

After both these sessions, group members come together at St Georges for a healthy lunch. This is a lovely interactive group where members like to share their experiences and stories of living in Manchester and how things have changed.

The lunch provides a well-balanced meal and a positive, friendly environment to reduce social isolation and encourage community care for all.

Monday Movers meet weekly on a Monday, 11.30-12.30pm.

Tuesday Walkers meet weekly on a Tuesday at 11am.
